Easter

All things considered, it was a fairly relaxing weekend.  Yesterday the wonderful handmade Chocolate Covered Peanut butter Easter Eggs arrived along with other treats from Mom.

They weren't even too melty with our above average temperatures in the upper 80's.
Then today we went to the early (6:45) service at church this morning.  That brought us home in time for a leisurely breakfast followed by a late lunch with Kendall's Uncle Del and family.
In the midst of it all, assignments were completed and submitted for grading.

Easter Treats

I had a ham in the fridge for Sunday, but since we now have dinner plans, I went ahead and heated it tonight and we had a nice meal.
I also haven't had time to make any treats while I'm studying, so I stopped at AJ's to get something special.

Take Us Out to the Ballgame

We had tickets to a Spring Training game that Kendall won at a raffle at the Hesston College Golf Outing.  It was a perfect day to be outside enjoying baseball food, even if we didn't care who won since it was Kansas City and LA playing.

Denver

I was able to be in Denver this past week for the annual AONE meeting.  It's always good catching up with colleagues from around the country.

Our opening speaker was Sully Sullenberger

Cokie Roberts was another speaker

On Saturday the blizzard hit!  It doesn't look like much snow, but the wind chill was -4 walking to the convention center from my hotel

Me standing out in the weather - not a great hair day!

On the way to the airport.  Flights were delayed, but mine only by about an hour.  Great to be home again!

Breakfast Anytime

Always fun to have breakfast for lunch, or dinner, or anytime....

Lunch (breakfast for me) today was with Bob, Lola Faye, Larry, Donna, Kelly, Jayna, Dell and Margaret.

And We Have a Winner!

The dice were hot last night and I came away with the most wins - 14 out of 18 rounds!  And with 2 Bunkos I still didn't have the most for the evening.  Maribeth had 4 - count 'em, 4!  My lovely prize was a basket with gardening gloves, herbs to plant and a cute bird to put in the garden.

Dinner

We had such a good dinner at Uncle Bob & Aunt Lola Fay's home last night.  Cousins Janet and Jill were visiting from cooler climates and it was good to see them too.

Glencroft Quilt Auction

The first weekend of every March brings the annual quilt Auction at Glencroft.  They are works of art!  In addition there are usually good buys on glassware and THE best "Kettle Korn" popcorn!

Vistiors

It's always a nice surprise to hear that Lois is in town.  Yesterday she flew in and was able to spend the evening with us.  Kendall's parents, aunt and uncle are also spending time with us so we had a melding of the families.  Such fun even if it was only for a short evening.

Southern Gospel Music Festival

This marks the first annual Gospel Music Festival in Phoenix.  Kendall's folks made it into town in time to have an early dinner with us along with Uncle Bob and Aunt Lola Faye.

It's a great lineup!

The Martins

The groups together at the end - The Booth Brothers, Legacy Five, The Hoppers, Freedom Singers, The Martins...

Always a favorite of mine

White Weekend

It was good to have Doug and Jenell visit for the weekend as we headed north to the cabin.  We awoke Saturday morning to a beautiful blanket of snow!  The flakes continued throughout the day and made for a nice day to be cozy inside with a fire in the fireplace.

A Prairie Home Companion

Saturday afternoon we headed east to attend the Prairie Home Companion show.

It was fun to be there, but I remember more audience participation and speciality segments when I attended a number of years ago.  Nonetheless, it was a good time and the 2.15 hours flew by!

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

This weekend was the coldest on record for decades!  Single digits in Prescott and into the 20's in Phoenix.  We're anticipating another (at least) 2 nights of these temperatures.  We hope not to loose too many shrubs and trees.

We also had a nice visit with an old friend from back east.  What a shame he was here for the cold weather.

Snowy Maryland

We certainly had a white Christmas with the family when we headed home for New Years!  Lois picked us up at the airport on Saturday and we made it to Phebe's where Mom and Dad met us for a lovely supper.  The snow had already begun in earnest by that time and continued off and on for the rest of the time there.  So many fun activities!

Christmas Weekend

We headed north Friday afternoon for our weekend that is a start of 4 days off.  We were happy to see snow greeting us at the cabin.

We started a fire in the fireplace and settled in.

Saturday brought some cookie baking, dinner out and a drive through the wonderful Christmas lights while sipping on hot cocoa and coffee - eating said cookies!
Looking toward downtown as we left the restaurant.

Sunday we awoke to an email from Lois indicating that she would be coming into the local airport with a two hour window until her passengers were to arrive.  I had fun tracking her as she made her way across the country.

We made some fabulous treats with chocolate, peanut butter, caramel and pretzels nestled inside.

We couldn't go to the airport to see Lois empty handed, so I pulled together a little basket with the cookies from yesterday, the chocolate treats and some Christmas M&Ms for fun.
