This weekend we were in Page, AZ for a Quad Race. While we were there we did a tour of the Glen Canyon Dam. What an impressive structure!

The tour was very windy!

The Brown Palace Hotel

I was in Denver this week for a business meeting with Nurse and Physician Executives from our hospital system. The Brown Palace Hotel opened in 1892 at a cost of 2 million dollars! That's a lot of money back then. It is a beautiful building and Denver was nice.

I bought a book that is an accounting of a double murder that took place in the hotel 95 years ago. I thought it was fitting that I was reading the book on the anniversary of one of the funerals.

Visiting Friends

This weekend we visited with our friends, Doug and Jenell, who were at their vacation home in Tucson. It is always good to see them and get some much needed R&R. Their hospitality is warm and comfortable.

And Then There Were None...

Well, we think they are all gone :-(
On Sunday evening I saw Mama Quail with 2 little ones, and within a half hour she was walking around the back yard with only one. We haven't seen either adult or a baby yesterday or today. We're sad in our household about the losses.

And Then There Were Two...

Can it really be true that we are down to 2 baby quails?? We certainly hope not, but that is all that we've seen around today. Let's hope our backyard is a little more friendly to wild life!

Happy Mother's Day to the special mothers in our lives! You know who you are :-)

I got Mother's Day cards from my 2 furry 'kids'. They seem to like the fact that I'm in their lives. It was a morning of hiking, getting plants and planting some color in the back yard before heading to church.

Quail Family

Today we discovered a quail family in our back yard. Are they living there or just passing through?
We counted 11 babies. They look very soft and furry. There are 2 adults with them, herding and talking to them. They sure can move fast! If you click on the pictures they will enlarge and you can see them better.

Hiking

A golf course down below

Almost to the top!

Did you know houses sell better in the desert if they are on water??

This morning I decided to take the camera long on my hike. Kendall was in Mexico at a desert race, so I went alone. We estimate that the trail is about 2.75 miles to the top of the mountain and back around. We try to hike it at least once on the weekends, and sometimes go around again for a good workout. Bring your hiking shoes with you when you come and you can explore it with us!

You can see for miles if it isn't too hazy.

Nurses of the Year Award

I guess a little catching up is in order since I am starting this blog so late in life. This was a fun evening in November when I received the Arizona March of Dimes Nurses of the Year award for Research and Advancing the profession (2005).

Joining the Ranks!

Well, I've given in to peer pressure and now I have a blog!
The name of Paradise Found is so fitting for living in the south west. The weather is spectacular and life is good!

Everyone enjoys having baby pictures to liven up their blog, so here is my addition - me at 3 months of age! Let's just say that was a few years ago.

Don't expect great entries on a daily basis. I'll do well to remember to update every week or so! We'll see how it goes.

Last weekend we were guests at a wedding reception in California. The bride is the daughter of one of Kendall's long time friends. The surprise entertainment was Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons! The reception was held in a large white tent on the lawn of the groom's parents. It was a lovely event!
