The Angel of Forest Hill is an Amish Christmas romance written
by Cindy Woodsmall. I do love Christmas
and enjoy reading fiction that includes this special time of the year.
This story takes Rose Krutz from her home
with her family in Pennsylvania to the hills of West Virginia where she marries
a newly widowed man, Joel Dienner whose wife just died in childbirth. They marry at the urging of Joel’s father,
the Bishop, to avoid the issues that would arise in the Amish community of a
single woman being in the household.
After four years they both are open to the idea of love in their marriage
of convenience.
Parts of the story do not ring true to Amish theology that I
am aware of, but nonetheless offer the reader the right amount of ‘angst’ to
hope for the best for this couple and the three children in her care that have
really only known her as their mother.
Cindy Woodsmall is a New York Times and
CBA best-selling author of numerous works of fiction and one of nonfiction. Her
connection with the Amish community has been featured widely in national media.
